ICEN Charges DESOPADEC on Master Plan for Delta

The Delta State Oil Producing Areas D e v e l o p m e n t Commission (DESOPADEC) has been charged to come up with a master plan of development for Delta State. Comrade Fred Umukoro who is the chairman of Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria (ICEN), gave the charge during with an interview with our reporter recently in Effurun. Comrade Mukoro said DESOPADEC do not need to be in a hurry to do every thing at the same time.

He advised the Commission to craft a master plan of development that could be executed from stage to stage without being lopsided and log jam. He asked DESOPADEC to transform the river-rine areas which is serving as a hid out for bad boys so that the criminals would equally contribute their quota to the development of the area. While commending the leadership of DESOPADEC he advised Deltans to ignore the clamour for scrapping the Commission for whatever reason arguing that the mandate of DESOPADEC as a development commission would out live the tenure of any administration and hence it is the way that something could be ploughed back into the area that process the nations wealth. He called for more commitment on the part of DESOPADEC management to the human capital development point in the 3-point agenda of Gov. Uduahan as well as follow up and monitor of any project to a logical conclusion for the benefit of the people.
